Cyclo Olefin Polymer

Cyclo Olefin Polymers deliver exceptional optical properties, high moisture barrier, and ultra-low extractables. These advanced materials find broad use in pre-filled syringes, microfluidics, optics, sensors, and semiconductor contamination protection applications.

Optical Film

ZeonorFilm^®, made from Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP), is available in isotropic, quarter-wave (¼), and half-wave (½) retardation films. With ultra-low haze, high light transmittance, and excellent optical stability under a range of environmental conditions, ZeonorFilm^® improves imaging and viewing performance in LCD and OLED displays, touch sensors, and life sciences imaging devices.

Electron Beam Resists

Zeon’s E-Beam Resists deliver nanoscale precision, superior etch resistance, and reliable pattern integrity for high resolution semiconductor manufacturing.

Carbon Nanotubes

ZEONANO^® single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) combine light weight strength and conductivity, enabling improved conductivity in Li-ion batteries and next-generation electronics.

Specialty Solvents

Pharmaceutical active ingredient synthesis benefits from Cyclopentyl Methyl Ether (CPME) specialty solvent – a performance upgrade offering superior heat of vaporization and high hydrophobicity vs traditional THF and MTBE solvents. For semiconductor production, Cyclopentanone (CPN) solvent is used for negative resist.

Thermal Interface Materials

Optimize your thermal management with Zeon’s precision-engineered thermal interface materials. These easy-to-apply sheets offer excellent compressibility and high thermal conductivity, making them ideal for a wide range of heat dissipation applications.

Zeon Corporation Milestones

Zeon Corporation, the parent corporation of Zeon Specialty Materials, traces its origins back to 1950 in Tokyo, Japan, as a leader in the synthetic rubber industry. Initially established to produce synthetic butadiene rubber, the company quickly built a reputation for innovation and quality. Zeon has expanded into advanced materials and, more recently, component businesses serving the Life Science market.

1950s

Began as a pioneer in synthetic plastic production, serving Japan’s burgeoning industrial sectors.

1959

Started manufacturing of synthetic rubber at Kawasaki plant, creating Japan’s first large-scale rubber manufacturing facility.

1990

Completed construction of the first ZEONEX^® plant in Mizushima.

1997

Began production of specialty chemicals at the Yonezawa plant.

2007

Completed construction of a new facility in Himi City, Japan for mass production of ZeonorFilm^® precision films for optical applications.

2015

Tokuyama (Japan) plant began mass-producing ZEONANO^®, contributing to thermal management and advanced electronics.

2017

Established Zeon Specialty Materials in the US.

2022

Acquired Aurora Microplates, a US-based manufacturer of precision microplates for laboratory research.

2023

Acquired Edge Precision Manufacturing, a US-based manufacturer of specialized consumables for diagnostic, medical device and optical industries.

2025

Announced the establishment of a 2nd production site (Tokuyama) and construction of the 5th production factory for ZEONEX^® and ZEONOR^® Resin with planned opening in 2028.

Present

Continues driving innovation across specialty materials, synthetic rubbers, and sustainable solutions, aligning with its vision of contributing to a "Sustainable Earth" and advancing societal progress.
