ZEONOR® Cyclo Olefin Polymers

No interference, clear, and precise

ZEONOR® Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) resins deliver superior optical clarity, low autofluorescence and high purity for ultra-sensitive biological assays. ZEONOR® microplates are optimal for high throughput imaging applications because they can maintain their superior flatness, even after exposure to higher-temp and higher-humidity environments such as incubators. The very low water absorption of ZEONOR® results in a superior dimensional stability compared to other plastics used in microplates.

 

Unsurpassed Clarity

ZEONOR® Diagnostic Grade resins exhibit glass-like clarity from UVA through NIR wavelengths. The higher transparency compared to polystyrene and COC, other common materials for microplates, is especially critical for fluorophores in the 300-450 nm range.

Low Autofluorescence

ZEONOR® offers lower autofluorescence than other microplate materials, especially for 365 and 400 nm excitation wavelengths. Compared to COC, a commonly used material for microplates, ZEONOR® offers a significant reduction in background fluorescence intensity across a range of wavelengths.

Purity

ZEONOR® is an extremely pure resin containing less-than-detectable residual metals and no low molecular weight additives or process aides. Compared to conventional polymers, assay reagents stored in devices made from ZEONOR® have low risk of contamination from leaching, off-gasses, or extractables.

Chemical and Thermal Stability

ZEONOR® resins offer enhanced compatibility for different assay conditions. Mechanically stable over a wide range of temperatures and humidity, microplates fabricated from ZEONOR® retain their surface flatness, critical for consumables that go from incubator to imaging systems.

Inert and Non-Reactive

Microplates fabricated from ZEONOR® have low surface energy and hydrophobic properties that reduce protein binding. ZEONOR® microplates are compatible with common organic solvents used in life sciences applications such as EtOH, IPA, and DMSO.

Manufacturing

ZEONOR® has excellent injection molding properties with high melt flow rates that enable microplates with up to 3456 wells, while maintaining a high degree of flatness.
