Medical Grade Polymer Resin Delivers

The next generation of drug delivery devices benefit from the purity and inertness of Zeon's Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP), with all the advantages of a high-performance plastic. Medical grade resins ZEONEX® 690R, ZEONEX® 790R, ZEONEX® 5000, and ZEONOR® 1020R have been assessed for compliance with USP Class VI and <661.1>, ISO 10993, in addition to JP and EU standards. High Purity

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® Medical Grade resins provide best-in-class purity with lowest residual metal content and fewer extractables or leachables compared to other barrier plastics. The hydrophobic surface reduces protein binding and provides enhanced compatibility for minimal interaction with biopharmaceuticals.

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® Medical Grade resins have a low surface energy. The hydrophobic surface reduces protein binding and provides enhanced compatibility for minimal interaction with biopharmaceuticals.

Durability

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® Medical Grade resins are ideal for Wearable devices because they exhibit superior impact strength and shatter resistance compared to glass and COC, over a wide range of temperatures including cryogenic storageincluding cryogenic storage (-194 °C).

Water Permeability

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® provide an exceptional moisture barrier compared to conventional polymers, promoting stability of reagent concentrations and maintaining the efficacy of moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical formulations.

Precision Molding

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® resins are high-flow and can achieve greater resolution and repeatability in mold replication than other plastics. A greater flexural modulus compared to COC results in a tougher material that can release from complicated tooling with less breakage, improving manufacturing yields.

Sterilization

ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® medical grade resins are compatible with various sterilization methods. The material is suitable for EtO, Gamma, and peroxide sterilization methods, and grades ZEONEX® 690R and 790R are compatible with steam sterilization. The is little to no change in the superior mechanical properties and durability of ZEONEX® after sterilization.
