Optical Resins Details

Transparent with Low Birefringence

Zeon’s optical grade Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) resins have >91% light transmission from UVA to NIR wavelengths, making them ideal for applications requiring clarity and minimal light scattering. Coupled with lower birefringence, lenses made from ZEONEX® COP have excellent optical performance and very low light distortion.

Glass-like Performance

ZEONEX® COP has a refractive index of ~1.53 and ABBE number of 56, resulting in the optical characteristics of glass with the design freedom and cost-effectiveness of a molded plastic.

Moisture-Resistant and Durable

Low moisture absorption makes lenses made from ZEONEX® and ZEONOR® resins and films dimensionally stable, even in humid environments. These resins provide higher heat deflection temperature (HDT) and increased wear resistance. Zeon’s optical grade resins are ideal for applications that require extreme precision in challenging environments.

Smooth Surfaces

Low surface roughness makes ZEONOR® COP ideal for applications requiring minimal light scattering.
